MoU with STIMar “AMI”, Indonesia
On 2 November, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic cooperation was signed between Sekolah Tinggi Iimu Maritim AMI (STIMar “AMI”), Jakarta, Indonesia and WMU. The MoU was signed by the Chairman of STIMar “AMI”, Capt. Albert Lapian and WMU President, Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia–Henry.
The agreement has a five-year duration and encourages linkages in the field of maritime and marine affairs, broadly defined to include maritime safety, security, and navigational technologies, as well as marine, maritime, environmental, and oceanographic management. Specific areas of cooperation include academic and information exchange, collaboration on distance education, and potential research, technical, and scientific cooperation. Under the agreement STIMar “AMI” will encourage their graduates to apply to the WMU M.Sc. programme and their faculty to the Ph.D. programme. Further, STIMar “AMI” will explore the possibilities of hosting week-long field studies for WMU students in Jakarta.
